We use a combination of our own materials and an internationally recognized preschool program in developing the curriculum which meet the needs of Malaysian education system, yet able to fulfill the international preschool standard.
Edney's curriculum is designed to meet both the requirement of Ministry of Education Malaysia under the specification of KSPK (Kurikulum Standard Prasekolah Kebangsaan) and the international preschool standard.
Whether your child is entering a national primary school with Bahasa Malaysia or Mandarin as medium of instruction, Edney's curriculums will prepare them well to meet the challenges during his or her initial primary years.
English is the primary language used in Edney classrooms. Except second or third language classes, all other subjects are taught in English.
Nursery and Kindergarten classes share the same subjects. However, variations exist in the form of teaching method to match the level of maturity of the children.
ENGLISH
Primary Medium of Communication and Instruction
At Edney Kindergarten, we embrace a comprehensive language methodology that blends a phonics-based framework to guide children in their reading journey. Every lesson is designed to enhance the four essential language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. By utilizing integrated textbooks alongside engaging multimedia software, we empower children to:
- Decode new words through phonics
- Articulate English words with correct phonetic stress
- Communicate using natural International English intonation,
- Recognise and spell words accurately
- Express with proper grammar
- Understand words, sentences, and stories
Malay
language
Our Bahasa Melayu curriculum is designed to fulfill the basic requirement of national primary school standard. While building the 'suku kata' phonetic awareness skills, thematic approach is used to build the Malay language literacy. Complementary Malay readers from various local publishers are incorporated into the Bahasa Melayu curriculum to accelerate the learning of Malay language for the children.
The objective of Malay language curriculum is to prepare children to continue their primary school education both in SK and SJKC.

At Edney Kindergarten, our Mandarin curriculum is crafted to establish a solid literacy foundation, ensuring a seamless transition for children into Chinese medium primary schools in Malaysia. Beginning with character recognition in the early stages, children will expand their vocabulary with frequently used characters. To enhance the classroom experience, we incorporate a variety of resources, including readers, workbooks, and interactive multimedia applications that complement the core text.

Our comprehensive science curriculum goes beyond traditional learning methods by incorporating multisensory experiences that cater to the diverse needs of each child. art & Craft
Creativity and Fine Motor Skill
Engaging in activities such as painting, printing, drawing, mosaic making, collage crafting, and handcrafting provides children with enjoyable and immersive ways to express themselves. These activities emphasize the importance of aesthetic appreciation, foster creativity, and help develop fine motor skills. In addition to creating individual art pieces, children will collaborate on group art projects. Many of these artistic pursuits are intertwined with various components of our broader curriculum.
Music Movement

We seamlessly integrate music and movement into our English, Chinese, and Mathematics lessons. In addition to this, we dedicate specific time for children to explore music and movement creatively and imaginatively. Some activities are designed to enhance specific musical and coordination skills, while others encourage improvisation, fostering personal expression and individuality.
